Package contents
The consumer size of TERRANEM contains 50 million beneficial parasitic
nematodes (Heterorhabditis bacteriophora) in a clay/gel carrier.
Coverage
This package will treat a surface of up to 2500 ft² or 230 m². (Adjust the rate
according to the level of infestation)
How beneficial nematodes work
Beneficial nematodes search actively in the soil for white grub larvae. Once
found they enter the white grub through any natural opening in the body and
release a bacteria in the grub which causes it to die. These bacteria multiply
very rapidly and transform the body of the dead insect into food for new
nematodes which are multiplying in their host. These new nematodes leave the
body of the dead grub and search for new larvae to infect and kill.
Insects controlled
Controls the larvae stage of several white grub species including the
following: European chafer, common chafer, Japanese beetle, Asiatic beetle, May
and June beetle, black vine weevil, strawberry root weevil and other insect
pests that live in the soil.
Application period
The soil temperature and the stage of development of the grub larvae determine
the period of application. The optimal periods of application in Eastern Canada
are as follows. Make adjustments as necessary according to soil temperature.
-
1st Application period: From mid-May until mid-June.
-
2nd Application period: From mid-August to mid-October.
-
If you have doubts, apply TERRANEM whenever white grubs are visible (respecting
the environmental conditions).

A variety of application devices can be used to apply TERRANEM:
-
Tank Sprayer or Watering Can: Empty the contents of the package into a 20 litre
(5 gallon) container of water and stir. Once the product is in solution pour
into the sprayer and apply immediately.
-
Hose-end sprayer: Mix the contents of the package in 1 to 2 litres of water.
The resulting liquid can be used as a concentrate to fill the tank of most
hose-end sprayers. Follow sprayer directions and adjust to the setting that
uses the most water.
-
If your spraying device contains any screens, remove them prior to application.
-
Always apply when the soil temperature is between 14°C and 33°C(57°F and 91°F).
-
Moisten the soil in the area to be treated prior to the application of the
nematodes.
-
Always agitate the sprayer or watering can gently during application to ensure
a uniform distribution.
-
After the application, water the lawn with a hose or sprinkler to help the
nematodes penetrate the soil.
-
Keep the soil moist for 4 to 7 days after application to ensure best
performance.
-
Avoid using pesticides on the treated area 10 days before and 10 days after
nematode application.
-
Avoid spraying in windy conditions.
